Whenever I replace a 7 pin connecter ( ist on the list when you buy a 
vintage airstream ) , I buy the kind with the connecter molded right on to 
the wires , they hold up better from corrosion where the wires screw to 
the pins as its leakproof . First I cut the old head off then I cut the 
insulation back ,cut all but two or three off and use electric tape to 
attach the trailer end couple of wires . I also tape on a piece of  nylon 
cord and use the old cord to pull the new thru the frame . Then I hook up 
the wires there (under the removable square access place behind the a 
frame in the front bellypan in 60`s trailers ) to the new code . In the 
older trailers , all the running light wires were red and marked by knots ,
one knot left ,two right , three running lights and an extra left
un attached . I think thats how it goes , I never wrote it down but could 
look if anyone has a 63 or older and is interested .
   Oh yeah , then I take that nylon cord , and tie two suitable wires to 
it for the breakaway switch , then thats new too .
