RE: [A/S] GMC Safari for '63 BAMBI

We tow a '02, 19' Bambi with a Ford Sport Trac with no problems. It has
a 210HP, 240ft/lbs torque engine, a 5 speed auto and a 4.10/1 rear end,
so a similar setup to what you are proposing. Not so sure that this
would work as well with a lower ratio read end (such as a 3.75/1). I
have driven the Sport Trac with the lower ratio rear end and it felt
like a 4cylinder. Yes you pay a bit in gas mileage with the 4.10, but
you have better hill and mountain performance as well as better
acceleration and it allows the engine to run in its peak hp/torque band
more of the time. I would also put an additional Hayden transcooler on
it even if it has the towing package as anything you can do to keep that
tranny cool, really extends the life and avoids breakdowns on the road.
