RE: [A/S] Thermostat Question

Hunter,
According to Duo-Therm;'s documentation, in auto cool mode, the unit
should come on in high fan when the difference is 8 degrees or more and
in low fan speed when the difference is below 8 degrees. I can't find
any reference as to the actual difference trip point but 6 degrees seem
a bit much. Our A/S has the same heatpump/AC & digital thermostat.
Over the years, I have learned that I can sense the difference of about
2 degrees pretty reliably and I tend to like things a bit cooler. While
I haven't paid close attention as to when the Duo-Therm thermostat fires
up the A/C relative to the actual interior temp, I think I would have
noticed if it was waiting for 6 degree rise, but then again, the
manufacturer's docs seem to indicate that 6 degrees might well be within
reason. We won't have our unit back out for a few more weeks, so I
won't have a chance to check it. Hopefully a few others can gather some
empirical evidence as to whether 6 degrees seem the norm.
