[A/S] Nothing Runs Like a Deere
Hi Gang,
I'm having problems with my trucker cell antenna... and a guy here at the
Escapees park offered to help. Well, it's not fixed but we did get to talking
about Airstreams.
This is the best story ever..... and it really happened.
He and is wife were up in Alaska in 1998. There they passed a "nice looking"
Airstream. They saw it quite a few times again and there was even a
newspaper article about it.
The Airstream, and its owners, had come all the way from Ohio, or Indiana, he
couldn't remember which. He said the owners were in their late 70s.... not
unusual for Airstreamers.... what was memorable was the fact that their tow
vehicle was a John Deere farm tractor!
I stared at him slack jawed.... "farm tractor?"
"Yes" he said, "The kind that you plow fields with. The kind with the two
small wheels up front and the giant tires on either side."
"Where did the wife ride?" I asked, still trying to process this astounding
information. "She either sat against the fender, blocking the big tires, or
sometimes inside the trailer."
Now, he swears tis is true.... and thinks it was the Anchorage paper that did
the story. Has anyone heard of this? I can't really do web searches while
on the cellphone..... so can someone try to find this story......
