Depends. If you do like me and travel for two hours you don't need to run the 
gas.  Closing the fridge door will keep it cold for many hours.  If you want 
to run it on gas, alot of people do. What you don't want to do is fill up the 
tow vehicle in a gas station with the propane open and running.
