Hi Al,

My vote would be to see that the trailer and the generator are grounded to
each other then to ground.
An earth ground is never as good as a copper wire especially in dry areas.
I don't have a generator, do they have 3 prong plugs or 2 prong plugs?

My vote.....ground it, it can't hurt and takes little time
