I would disassemble the light if necessary and check the rating
on the switch. It should be rated in amps (A). Then I would check
the bulbs and see what wattage they are, multiply that number
by 6 then divide the result by 12 if they are 12VDC bulbs or by
120 if they are 120VAC bulbs. The switch rating should exceed
the number you get from the above figures. It could be the switch
used is not specified for that load, and if not a resulting fire can occur.
