I have read your post and all of the replies.  My suggestion will 
take a different approach than any of the replies so far. 
With a farm tractor you can experience a "hop" if the tire pressure 
front to back are producing a natural frequency that corresponds to 
the frequency of ridges in the field, you then have resonance.
I suspect that you are driving on a lot of concrete highways.  Do 
they have joints that you can feel?  I know I15 in Montana does.  We 
don't have many concrete highways.
I suspect that it isn't your 1,000# hitch trying to bounce off the 
ball, but rather that stiff F250 trying to "bounce" it off.
You don't have much choice but to run your trailer tires at maximum 
pressure, at least that is where you should be running them. 
Your F250, now that is another matter. If you have "E" rated tires 
the the Maximum tire pressure is up around 90 psi.   Now unless you 
carry around a load in the back of the truck when you are towing, 
which I doubt, you don't need Maximum tire pressure.
If you have "D" rated tires you don't have much room to change tire 
pressure. 
Anyway my point is try experimenting with tire pressure.
