You can turn different things in the "Find Nearby Places" by clicking on the
icon to the left of the little red car in the tool bar. The find nearby
places section will open along the left side of the screen. There is a
little box at the top of that portion of the screen that says "show or hide
places". Click on that little box and a big box will open up with all the
categories you can turn on and off by putting a check marl (click on the
little box to the left of the category to put a check mark in it. I usually
use the box at the bottom of the big box that says "uncheck all" to get rid
of all the check marks then go down the list until I come to "Campgrounds"
and click on it to put in the check mark. If you turn them all on there is
so much stuff along your route it is hard to see what is there. Now you have
to zoom down until the scale on the map is 2.5 miles or less. At 2.5 miles
the campgrounds will show up on the map as a very small blue square with a
blue dot in the center. When you click on one of these little squares it
opens up a map note with the name of the campground and the phone number.
When the zoom level gets down to 600 feet the little blue squares turn into
a bigger square with a little tent symbol inside the box. When you click on
this blue box it gives you the map note again. You can leave these map notes
on the screen or turn them off. I usually leave the ones I decide to stay in
turned on. They will print out on your overview map if you print out your
trip plan. I always print out the directions and the overview map just in
case my computer crashes I will have a hard copy to use. It also makes it
very easy to reload or put it on another computer if you need to. I usually
make a copy on a floppy disk if it is a long trip with lots of stops. My
trip last summer was almost 8000 miles with 58 campground stops - I had a
floppy copy just in case of a crash. I did not need the backup copy. I
followed the entire 7968 mile route with the trailer attached, and added
another 3759 on side trips without the trailer.
