[A/S] Re: Cross Country
I've driven the stretch of I 40 from Memphis to Little Rock twice a
year for the past ten years. It's been under construction for the past
5 years (they seem to be making a career of it..).
There is a state highway that runs parallel to I 40 and just south of
it- State 70. It's a good road and kind of pretty if you're in to rural
highways and rice fields (as I am..). I can't tell you where
construction is this year, but you might try a truck stop for info (if
you're heading east to west there's one just west of Memphis at I 55)
Get off well before the construction and take the biway until you're
well past it.
I have sat in traffic without moving for nearly 3 hours on this
stretch- and at times when you wouldn't expect to be slow. I also got
in trouble for doing a U turn through the grass median to get out of
traffic, but that's another story..
Hope that helps,
Chris K.
