[A/S] Re: (Parties, Parrots and Pot)/New Mag

Just a picky point, but its trademarks, not copyright if you are
looking for a proper reference to get into the issue.

And Airstream has not been very discriminating in its attacks (maybe a
bit harsh a word but still appropriate IMHO). The WBCCI has been
dealing with Airstream's antagonism in this area for years if I
understand right.

But if you look around, you find that airstream is both a dictionary
term and a common trademark in a variety of businesses, even when
restricted to the state of Ohio.

The Airstream attacks on WBCCI units and similar not-for-profit
organization's use of the term tends to ignore certain aspects of
trademark law, IMHO. But, the threat of lawsuit is often enough as our
current legal system seems to endorse a sort of extortion this way.

It's too bad because Airsteam has harmed their own trademark with
behavior such as this and their own brand dillution (e.g. applying the
trademark to various distinct RV types in their line).

The issues behind branding and identity are also some of the big ones
for WBCCI, but that is a different story. You gotta' know who you are
before you can do much to to plan a direction and goal.
