AS used to sell bunks that went over the two side beds in the center-dual 
bed models. We had a 26/27 foot late '60's rear-bath model AS with one bed 
on each side in the center when our 4 kids were young.

I didn't know about the AS bunks at that time - I just made my own. It was 
pretty simple - just make a frame, screw it into the end panels above the 
existing beds at each end, and make a small mattress for each. Two extra 
beds - piece of cake.

Kids slept there for several years. We put two kids on the sofa, one kid in 
each bunk. When they brought friends on trips (it happened!) somebody slept 
on the floor or in a tent outside. Rainy days were a PITA.
