RE: [A/S] Hitch clunking noise

Sounds like you have some slack in the strut assemblies. Have you
verified the torque on all the bolts fastening the frame brackets to the
hitch. Hensley calls for 45ft lbs on each nut and these should be
checked periodically. If these loosened, the pressure of the strut
assemblies can easily shear the shear bolt located on the rear of the
frame bracket and move the frame bracket. This introduces slack into
the strut assemble which will then "clunk" when turning. Check if
either shear bolt is shear off on the two frame brackets. Even if these
seem okay, measure from the center of the hitch ball to the front of the
frame bracket and each side should measure 25.5" (+/- 1/2"). If this
looks okay then make sure that the strut assemblies are snug. If you
need new shear bolt(s), Hensley sells them.

A clunking sound is not something normal, at least not on my Hensley.
