The beefed up??? crew cab F-150 4x4 tows a MAX of 7100#.  Very little room 
for growth in Trailers AND
the new 2004 F-150 isn't proven yet.

Just like the new 2004 F250 6.0 diesel it has it's own set of model one - 
type one, year one problems.

I'd go for a used 2003 or earlier 7.3 liter diesel F250, Chev 2500 or Dodge 
2500.
Bigger engine means less wear, means lower maintenance costs,

bigger brakes means better stopping power and a heavier transmission
means better longevity and durability.

Used generally means many or all the bugs are out and the price is 
certainly much lower.

Check out the specs at Ford on the various rear end, engine combo's.
