[A/S] Re: Using a JEEP to tow a small Airstream

The only one I'd consider would be the Cruisette. At under 1500 lbs
it doesn't require its own brakes and in fact weighs less than some
fully-loaded utility trailers, plus at 14' it doesn't require the
kind of wheel base that longer trailers do. But good luck finding
one - to the best of my knowledge there were less than a hundred made
and there are only eight left, though the VAC classifieds has one for
sale - only $11,750! I came that close to buying it, even though
getting it from California to Virginia added another thousand to the
price tag. But the show-stopper was I'd have to tow it up my
driveway, unhitch the truck, back it out and around the trailer and
then get the trailer turned around so I can tow back out. I can do
that with my teardrop - it only has a 75 lb tongue weight - but the
150 lb tongue weight of the Cruisette made that a no-go on gravel.
Once I get the top of my driveway paved it might be do-able with a
good-sized wheel on the tongue jack, but until then, I'll have to
stick with my teardrop.
