Re: [A/S] Diesel fuel prices at truckstops

Many truck stops post low diesel fuel prices, but then charge individuals
higher prices. This is not a case of fraud on the part of the fuel seller,
but rather a reflection of state tax laws.

The lower fuel price does not include the state fuel tax. Truckers pay
their state fuel tax directly to the state in which the fuel is used
(consumed), and have to keep copius records, etc. The higher tax states
don't want a long haul trucker to fill up in a lower tax state, and lose out
on the revenue; hence the tax charade.

An individual simply buys the fuel and pays the tax in the state at the time
of purchase. This accounts for the higher sale price.
