What she meant is she got a list of everything she wanted on the trailer she 
wanted.

Then contacted Airstream dealers to get the best price.

Then she ordered one from the dealer who gave her the best price.

She used the word "middleman" because she didn't go shopping for it on a lot 
and they didn't have it on the lot, they just ordered it and she went and got 
it.  

I have heard of people making a list of their wants and faxing it to a bunch 
of dealers for the best price.  25% off is pretty standard in the industry for 
RVs, all RVs.  Airstream would probably be the only brand of trailer that 
dealers might not be as anxious to discount.

The best deals are always slightly used trailers.  I bought mine when it was 
2 yaers old and paid almost 1/2 of the new list price.  It was in like new 
condition.
