Just a thought regarding LVH.  If you go with the smaller MR-11 reflector
lamps and stay with 10W spots, you get a LOT of light for about the same
current draw as the original incandescent auto bulbs (ie around 1 amp per
bulb).  I really like the color balance of these lights.  While I am not a
professional decorator, I have a keen awareness and understanding of the
importance lighting plays on the overall interior feeling.  A/S has a nice
stainless fixture (used in CCD) as well as a dark bronze (used in
non-CCD)fixture that they are currently installing in new A/S.  These are
single lamp units that have a small toggle switch mounted on the side of the
base so switching them on/off is solved. You can buy these from the A/S
factory store for under $50.  On the other hand, there are SO many unique
MR-11 fixtures available on the market at lower prices that I would just
have your wife get the lights.  You can either mount them using the small
MR-11 track system or buy the single base unit that converts them from
track. If you use off the shelf LVH, you will need to engineer how to switch
them, but adding a small toggle in a no-brainer.  Since all LVH are 12V,
they are a natural for use in the Airstream.  The MR-11 spots put out a much
more focused light and it really works well in highlighting areas of the A/S
as well as making excellent reading lamps.
