I'd hitch a trailer up to a camel before I'd pull with a Jeep. <g>

Personally, I say go for a longer wheelbase vehicle to tow.  Even a car from 
the period or if you want new go for a Suburban or a pickup.  Long wheelbase 
means more stability.

Jeeps have a short wheelbase and a high center of gravity..... they do fine 
until you get into a dicey situation... then the trailer will overpower it.
