[A/S] Quality (was " Digest Number 1774 Buy new, used, or vintage?")

??????????   I'm a rather old man who has been rather well-to-do, so have purchased many 
automobiles and TV's (usually top-end) in my life.  I can't recall a single instance of 
either that was "in perfect working and cosmetic condition right 'out of the box'".  Even 
my current tow vehicle (with which I am positively ecstatic) had all kinds of 
imperfections when it was delivered, and some of them haven't been fixed in the three 
years since. 

For comparison, my thirty-year-old a/s certainly is as nearly perfect as any of my 
automobiles or TV's ever were.  Oh yes, it does have a few imperfections and "beauty 
marks".  Yes, I have had to replace some appliances and am working on the fabrics.  But 
especially taken over that thirty year period, there is no comparison.  I also feel 
absolutely no interest in trading in on a newer model.  

Just one man's opinion.
