Dave,
Drill the old rivet out. Sneak up on it so that you don't make the hole 
to large. Replace it with an Olympic rivet which you can order from 
<http://www.airstreamparts.com/> a pkg of 100 will cost you $18.95. The 
Olympic revits have a dome head. After you have placed it you can use a 
small bastard file to file off the tail and it will look just like the 
AS rivets.
