Oops. make that a *Mystery '36*...as in 1936.
Since it's duralumin and riveted...I'll mention what it's about...
It's a Mystery in that I don't know who built it.
It's appears to be a cross between a Bowlus and an Airstream.
I know - I know...that is just how the Airstream evolved...
>From what is understood to date - Airstream probably took over Bowlus and
right away changed the frame design (probably due to cost - since the Bowlus
frame was so technical and labor intensive...that's my thinking anyway) and
it also allowed them to move the entry door away from the very front over
the tongue to the more conventional curbside ... and then it evolved from
there.
Mine on the other hand... has a more Bowlus like frame - but... it also has
the more conventional curbside door. So go figure???
If anyone runs across a 1930's riveted aluminum trailer that "looks" like an
early Airstream or a late Bowlus...but in fact is neither....LET ME KNOW! I
am always looking for history leads on mine.
It's a fascinating mystery hunt - the proverbial needle in a haystack.
Thanks. RL
