I know it seems like power is the main thing, but it's only one of the 
important factors.  Yes, Chevy, Ford and Dodge 3/4 ton trucks are called either 
2500s or 250s(Ford).

The 1/2 ton trucks are built on lighter frames with less transmission, 
braking power etc.

Lots of people are towing with 1/2 ton trucks, and are no doubt happy with 
them.  Everyone I know who switched to a 3/4 ton is happy that they switched.

I know I am really happy with a 3/4 ton, long wheelbase crew cab, pulling my 
25' classic trailer.

More people will weigh in after the weekend, lots of people must be off 
camping.
