[A/S] test weekend

hello folks, 
  we had a test weekend with our '76 argosy 28' center bath. some 
things went well, others did not, but i am still pleased with the 
trailer. i expected this and the purpose of the weekend was to test 
the trailer. 
  question1: we had installed a new battery, it was charged, we 
plugged in at the campsite. the tv and lamp that are 110v did fine. 
the 12v items such as ceiling fans and lights slowly faded out. we 
checked the breakers, we checked the fuses in to converter(110 to 12 
volt, is converter the correct name? i know an inverter goes from 12v 
to 110). any suggestions?
