[A/S] Re: Sewer systems...

Macerator pumps do need maintenance and may need cleaning - they are
designed for this, usually. The primary application is for emptying
boat waste tanks at dockside dump stations.

A macerator pump usually has a 1.5 inch inlet and a 1 inch outlet. it
could be made portable with an adapter to connect to the current drain
and a power connection but it is usually plumbed directly to the waste
tank manifold.

One way is to put an asymetric 3 to 1.5 inch ABS adapter on a 3 inch T
between each tank and its gate valve. Then put a 1.5 inch gate valve
for each tank between the reducing adapter and a 1.5 inch T that feeds
the pump. Non collapsable (radiator) hose is often used from the 1.5
inch T to the macerator pump. Common fittings except the asymetric
adapter which is easier to find at RV parts places. This setup allows
a lot of flexibility in waste handling with or without the pump.

Power feed to the pump needs to be convenient as it is the sound that
is usually used to indicate when to cease pumping. Power feed also
need to be rather heafty as there is a good bit of current to handle.
Don't run the pump dry!

The Sewer Solution is nice in that its nozzle swivles so it can inject
a stream back to the waste tank to help cleaning or down the waste
pipe to 'pump' effluent. The water flow used for the pumping action
also acts as a mechanism self cleaner but you need to have a backflow
preventer valve (comes with it). It does not provide the lift a
macerator pump can and needs good supply water pressure and volume.
