My wife found a decorative wooden tray with a very
small lip on all sides and two handles on the long
ends. The tray takes up about 1/3 of the one side of
the table. We keep all the "stuff" on it. When we
want to flip out the other half of the table, we pick
up the tray, table is now clean, and we do the flip. 
Tray goes back on. Only takes a second and it saves
lots of time. When we pack up to travel and fold the
table all they way against the wall, the tray sits on
the sofa.

Works pretty good. Patty never fails to reminde me
how handy her idea was <gg>. :)
