Re: [A/S]

Hi Bob & Betty
We all were new comers at one point . :-)
We've got a 30' 1974 International , and we love it. I'm told by those
who know, that it is just as easy to pull a full length A/S as it is to
pull a shorter. It depends on your tow vehicle as opposed to the length
of the trailer. With the tandem wheels they are nicely balanced and once
you get used to maneuvering, and with a wife on the FRS radio, you can
just about park it anywhere it will fit.
Also I've had folks who own newer trailers in my trailer, admiring it's
construction and its storage space. So, you really have to look at the
condition and what the trailer has by way of amenities, and then decide.
The older trailers seem to have more depth of quality, I think. But then
you're listing to a guy who thinks he was born 100 years too late and
wants to have have a team of Clydesdales to pull his trailer.
Best of luck on your search. Have a long look at anything you find and
make sure you check the condition of what you buy. We've seen some very
new trailers that have been neglected and abused, and I wouldn't give
you a nickel for them. On the other hand some restored vintage trailers
are simply awsome. Best place to really see a variety is to visit one of
the rallies that A/S ers have. You can then have a look at a variety of
trailers and you will also find a real source of good experienced
information. Unfortunately, you can't camp with the group unless you own
an A/S, but you certainly will be most welcome to visit and research
your purchase. Go to the WBCCI web site http://www.wbcci.org/ and that
will lead you to the region's activities where you are located. I know t
here are A/Sers in Saskatchewan, because we met folks from there at a
recent rally in Vermont. You are certainly headed in the right direction!
