It is quite true that marine ply has 7 plys whereas exterior ply has 5 layers 
and there are voids in the exterior ply.You have a frame member eavery couple 
of feet  and strengh is not a factor.When I built boats exterior ply was used 
for all the interior work including the floors.
Also at that time I raced outbord hydroplanes and I used 1/4 in 3 ply 
exterior ply on the bottoms and never had a failer due to the ply. All I am saying 
that marine ply is over kill You pay your money and take your choice.I speak 
from a 1/2 century of experance.
