Thanks for the responses.

I am hooked up to 30 amp service on the wall of my garage.  I'm plugged into a 
three pronged standard outlet with a pigtail type adapter that is about a foot 
long.  It's a 20 amp outlet with ground fault interrupt.

I haven't noticed any excessive heat, or signs of melting on the plug.  Of course, 
that doesn't mean there couldn't be a problem.
