[A/S] GPS Devices - cheaper alternative...

I've got a cable that connects my Handspring PDA to my Garmin GPS.  
You can get a program called Solus Pro that lets you download maps 
and routes from the DeLorme web page to your pda, then your position 
shows on a map on the pda screen.  

If you set it up right (always an "iffy" proposition with me) it will 
beep about a minute before you're supposed to turn.  It's a lot 
cheaper than a laptop, for us pennypinchers.
