The open frame generators have one thing in commom they are noisy the exaust 
is the least of it.caseing in the generator is only margenly effective. the 
down side is that the heat must be dealt with. I had a diesel generator cased in 
with sound deading material and an aelectric fan for extry cooling . the fan 
failed and cooked the engine. I have since replaced this with a RV liquid  
generator it is some what quiter I ran the exaust through an auto muffler and 
exausr between the wheels. I try to park away from eavery one else but quite 
often some one will park next to me and complain about the noise.
