The Mobile Office kit will let you connect to the Internet in digital areas.

The Ositech King of Clubs PCMCIA card and cable will let you connect in 
digital or analog areas.  They've just added support for the CDMA (Verizon) 
version of the V120.

It's slow, so you'll want a plan with lots of nights and weekend minutes and 
do things off-peak.  The America's Choice plan has that, but also has some 
roaming areas.  The never-roaming Nation Single Rate isn't available with 
additional nights and weekend minutes.

Rather than use a slow web-mail, use a POP server to dial-in, download 
mail, hang-up, read, reply, and compose off-line, and upload all that the next 
time you connect to download email.  You can also turn off images in your 
browser to just load the text of web pages, which will be faster.

We'll probably switch from Cincinnati Bell (AT&T) to Verizon when we 
finally get in the trailer.
