Re: [A/S] Dometic Heat Pump
Howdy All;
I have been having an on going problem with the
13.5BTU Dometic Heat Pump that Airstream installed on
my '00 31' Excella. It keeps burning out! In doing
so it has managed to interfere with my last two summer
vacations, and this year just before my vacation.
In sum, I am now the proud owner of my 4th heat pump,
in three years. The dometic techs who have replaced
them - all different - have said the unit puled too
many amps. The last tech said that he was replacing
more heat pumps than any other kind of unit, and he
suggested that when, not if, this one goes out that I
consider changing over to a regular a/c.
If any of y'all have have had similar problems, I'd
appreciate hearing of your experiences, including
remedies.
Oh, does anyone know why both Airstream and Dometic
tell me that a 15BTU unit won't fit my rig. I can
order a new 31' that comes with the larger 15 BTU unit
installed by the factory. Dometic says that it will
fit the hole in the trailer, but is too large for the
rig. Strange statement when you consider that the 34'
comes with a 15 unit and is the same width as my 31'
I'd also appreciate any suggestions anyone might have.
Oh, we never use the Microwave when the a/c is on, or
the electric water heater. I have changed out the
breakers on the last two changes.
Thanks,
Tom May, tired of paying to sweat and telling his
sweetie that hot vacations are fun.
