Jack,
I don't normally monitor the list but came upon your post and 
everything you said is right on, including screwing the bracket into 
the plastic under the dash.  It will be plenty secure to hold the 
cable.  The control module does mount from the rear of the bracket 
and tension keeps it in place.  The blunt round nose of the module 
allows it to remain parallel with the cable as the brake pedal arm 
rotates slightly during travel. You will be amazed how well it works.
