Hi Hunter,
The little piece of hose is just an extension or jumper piece of water
hose from Camping World that is sold in conjunction with several of
their in line filters. Someone added it to make it easier to make the
water hose connection, which is a little difficult to reach where the
connection is designed to be made. You may just need to tighten the
connection in the back by holding the female part of the hose connection
in the back and turning the little short piece of hose to screw in in
tighter. I use a short 45 degree brass extension I got at Camping World
to make the everyday connection easier to reach. I find I need to give
it a little twist in the back on occasion to stop it from having a small
leak. I hope this is the greatest problem you have for this complete
trip.

Still planning to see you in Vermont, but my mother is still hanging on
at the total disbelief of everyone.
