Does gearing down work with a diesel without an exhaust brake? Yep, used to do it all the time with a bored out Detroit in a '74 GMC cabover - in fact if it didnt, would not be here now as I would have burned out the tractor and trailer brakes. (Reason why you see signs, Trucks use lower gears.) Jim
