[A/S] mattresses

Hi Gang,

For those without $500 for a new mattress, perhaps the old one can be
salvaged by placing a "Therm-A-Rest" ($100) from Campmor (www.campmor.com)
on top of it.

Campmor is a mountain climbers equipment store which means the mattress
doesn't have the Airstream curve required by back bedroom twins. For the
difference in price, that might not be such a significant factor.

Although I've only used a "Therm-A-Rest" for a week at a time, I found mine
to be light weight (2-3#) and it enabled me to sleep on the ground without
any aches the next day.

My suspicion is that one of these could significantly enhance the comfort
level of any standard Airstream mattress (new or old). I may try that myself
this Fall when we begin Snowbirding again.

In the meantime, if someone beats me to it, I'm sure many of us would be
interested in your impressions.
