  I have read all these posts on OPD valves and I think the smartest 
thing to do is go to a reputable propane distributer, whose sole job 
is dealing with propane and propane related things and have them 
change the valves. They know what tanks need changed and what valves 
go where and the right tools to do it with. You are not going to save 
any money by doing it your self or letting someone do it that don't 
know what there doing. If there was an extra fee, the peace of mind 
would be worth the cost. They will inspect your tank and certify it 
and you will have to have it filled anyway and chances are the 
propane will be cheaper there anyway. Another thing even if you live 
in a state that doesn't require the new valves , I would say if you 
travel out of the state and need propane you would probably have a 
hard time getting them filled. For one time I thing this change in 
law concerning these valves was big step forward.  Propane can be 
bought at hardware stores and campgrounds and who knows if these 
people know what they are doing. These valves take the guess work out 
of overfilling. This is my thoughts on the
