The Glass Mat battery technology must be getting better. I just replaced
the cranking battery in my GMC Sierra 2500 at Sam's Club with an Exide
(Absorbent Glass Mat) AGM battery that has 1000 Cold Cranking Amps. It
has both side and top Connection posts, which will make attaching jumper
cables much easier than on the original battery with side posts only. I
have jumped two people that needed a start, and ended up having to use a
pair of pliers to connect to the positive post on the side of the
battery. There is just not enough exposed post to get my shielded jumper
cable clamp to make contact. Now all I will have to do is pop off the
red cap on the top post connection and hook up the jumper cable clamp to
its own post. I never use the battery to make the Negative connection.
