I understand that, but you are comparing a warmed over starting 
battery with a heavy plate deep cycle battery. 20 years ago when 
there were not a lot of choices in true 12v deep cycle I would agree 
with you. But there are now and a lot of people are either getting by 
with the starting battery (and running out of power) or doing a lot of 
modification to fit a taller battery when they could use a pair of good 
12v true deep cycle that would fit. BTW, I have a single 12v which 
puts out the same power as a pair of GC batteries.
