Jim,

I too, am a fan of Golf Cart batteries and on one occasion I had a coach 
with a shallower than usual battery compartment, I was able to gain an 
inch of space by cutting off the studs that protrude above the posts. On 
another occasion I wedged 1/2" of foam above the posts.  

Another plus in favor of GC batteries is that two 6 volt batteries in 
series are much easier to maintain  and are longer  lived than 12 volt  
batteries in parallel.

Jim, I know that you knew this but for those who think there isn't 
 enough room, measure carefully and think innovatively and maybe they 
will fit. Your posts are always informative.
