the concern here is warping the door.
the outer skin SHOULD keep it in alignment but the inner and outer
work together.
so, remove only as much of the rivets as are absolutely necessary. do
all of this while the door is shut if at all possible. to help
maintain the alignment.  don't open the door in midpoint.
make sure all of your supplies are on hand before buttoning up.
remove rivets evenly down both sides from the top down.
when you get to the middle of the window, start trying to get behind
the skin, do NOT kink the aluminum or warp the skin by trying to fold
it.  better to remove a couple more rivets.
check the batting insulation. toss in more if it has settled. check
first for rusting of frame, etc.
be careful in drilling out the rivets that you do not enlarge the
holes.
consider replacing your door gasket while you are doing all this.
this is a primary leak point as the prevalence of rotten entry floor
condition will attest.

finally, whoever does this next, let the rest of us know how it went.
