I have what appear to be the original shades in our '85 Sovereign. They 
are made of the same type of material that I remember roller shades 
being made out of when I was a kid. It's a material with assume sort of 
coating on it. They look good and you would think that they are 
relatively new.

I don't care for the vinyl mini's we have had bad experiences with them 
in the house. We have found that they will deform on very hot days when 
the sun is beating down on them. We replaced them all with aluminum 
mini's from Home Depot, that are cut to size.

I'm not sure that I would want mini's in the airstream though.
