Tuna, from my experience, your comment to Joseph is right on the money.

Joseph, we tow our '67 22' Airstream Safari with a 1975 Mercury Station
which has a 460 CID V8 and all the factory trailer towing options.  As with
much of the discussion so far, I feel it's better and safer to have a tow
vehicle that does the job easily - than one which grunts.

And just so you know we aren't newcomers, the Merc has been doing it for
more than 25 years. In June, I'll have this combination at International in
Vermont along with an equally old aluminum canoe (mirror shined).  On the
4th of July (and every Friday until then), I'll be wearing my red shirt.
