of course, I do not agree
changing out the control (should be less expensive than that) will be
far less expensive in so far as downtime, and work involved in getting
the old unit out and then putting the new unit in.
Since the listowner has probably never done this, she has no idea of
the time and expense involved.  I have done about a doz of these and
would far rather be changing out the control/tc than the whole unit.
Now, if the whole stove is shot, then obviously you would want to
follow the advice quoted above.
