[A/S] take apart a closet latch -spring loaded 59 Traveler

Need to take apart closet spring-loaded latch to refinish metal plate. Can
someone tell me how they work, or how to get them back together after I
manage to get them apart?
I posted a thread on Airstream Forums

has a photo of the closet latch.  I hope this link is allowed.  It's the
only way I know to provide a picture of the latch.
