Re: [A/S] AGM Batteries - now, most tolerant battery ???

Chas,
No battery is truly tolerant of abuse. Some will handle certain kinds of
abuse better than others: a gelcel will stand being deep cycled and/or left
partially discharged better than a traditional wet cell battery. However,
they do NOT like being over-charged. (nor do AGMs)

Rather than looking for a battery that will stand abuse, better to quit
abusing them. Get an InteliPower or equivilant 3-stage charger/converter and
you'll not only get far longer life from your batteries, you'll get much
more usable energy from them. Most folks don't realize that their batteries
usually aren't fully charged by the typical RV converter/charger, so they
can't really get all the juice out of 'em that should be there.

If you're always connected to shore power and use your batteries only during
stops at a rest area or an occassional overnight stay, you can get by with
the regular charger, albeit at the cost of more frequent battery replacement
and probably more addition of water.
