Re: [A/S] AC (replacing the 13500 Dometic Penguin)
Jerry,
I guess the next question is why. Here are my
guesses. Too heavy for the roof(maybe)? Opening
doesn't match existing opening (doubtful)? Electrical
requirements require heavier gauge wire (probably the
best guess so far) which includes higher amp breaker.
Is the unit also equipped with a heat pump (possible
issues here). You should be able to get a new pan in
case the existing one doesn't fit so it must be one of
these issues.
Personally if I had a choice and could overcome the
issues, I'd still take the 15K unit if I could. I
know if my 13.5 fails on my Safari, the 15K unit will
be my choice. A/S wouldn't have made these units
available as options on their newer trailers if they
didn't see a need.
I just went to the Duo-Therm web site and there are no
specs for the 15K unit (or any other size either).
Why don't you send them an email and ask them the
weight, amperage, size questions. Here is their
address. I have found them very good to work with.
