Hi Y'all;

Don't get disgusted here, but if you get disgusted too easily, then 
scroll past this tech tip.  This has been a 'Disclaimer' in the 
interest of clean living.

Okay, the toilets in RVs have a double seal, which seals by allowing 
a disk to slide between them.  In RV's which have just been 
purchased, one never knows what maintenance and cleaning has been 
done on them.  If it leaks into the black tank, one must check the 
sealing groove, where the disk slides in to ensure that their is no 
foreign material packed into it.  If there is, then a dental pick is 
probably the ideal instrument to remedy this.  All the foreign 
material must be picked out of the groove to allow the disk to fully 
seat again, and the disk may have to be sprung back and forth after 
the cleansing, in order for it to reform its proper seating.  I have 
had to do this with three trailers that I have purchased pre enjoyed, 
and am becoming a bit of an expert on the subject.  The most common 
foreign material found here is paper, but it can get worse.  I have 
always had success in cleaning this area, and reforming a good seal.
