Re: [A/S] Re: Why wasn't SHE doing the backing?
Maurice,
Not sure what provoked this outburst? What kind of experience have you had towing with
an Equal-i-zer hitch?
My situation has allowed me to tow with both the Hensley and the Equal-i-zer. Nearly
3,000 miles on each one. The "feel" of the two hitches when towing is nearly identical.
Yes the Equal-i-zer is amuch simpler design, but that doesn't automatically make it
less effective. While the spring bars are in compression at the head they are in a fixed position bracket at the rear that only allows fore
and aft movement.
I have not experienced the "severe understeer" you speak of . Nor have I experienced the
"pain" you refer to when turning. The Equal-i-zer and the Hensley feel the same. In one
instance I towed a customer's coach with a Hensley that he allowed to get out of
adjustment. The resulting lurch when cornering to that side was most disconcerting.
It is one of the marvelous things about our society that we usually have many choices
about how we do things, and the privilege to point out the error of others.
Merry Christmas All
Charlie
